New surveys and excavations in the Turkana Basin is a major element of NG’IPALAJEM. We will initially focus on three sites in West Turkana – 

• Eliye Springs, where a Middle Pleistocene hominin was discovered in the 1970s, 
• Lokodongot, a large hominin-bearing Middle Pleistocene locality discovered during the IN-AFRICA Project,
• and Nakoret, an unexplored locality where preliminary surveys identified hominin-bearing strata

 throughout the years of the project we hope to discover other new localities with sediments from the last million years in Turkanae
